Hair & Hair Dressing Hashtags
It’s hard for people to choose a hairstylist. Especially when they move to a new place or are visiting a city they don’t know. Normally, we’d ask friends, but when in a completely new place (or if unhappy with your current stylist), people tend to flock to Instagram. That’s the place where we can see your work, and be amazed at that beautiful bronde you just created. We’ll discuss some great strategy for you to use on Instagram, but before you read, take a few seconds to copy these hairdressing hashtags. They will be the starting point to your campaign and will make it so you can get more organic reach for your posts. Once you are done with that, and with reading your post, read this article showing you techniques on how to grow a targeted Instagram following for your salon.

How to Use Hairdressing Hashtags
Just like google uses keywords for SEO, Instagram uses hashtags as their version of this. Hashtags are a major way on how you can get found on Instagram. When someone searches a hashtag like ombre, they are probably looking for either ideas or a salon whose work they like. If your images aren’t hashtagged this way you won’t be found.
You will see some sites say to use very little hashtags. We disagree. Instagram lets you use 30 and you should take full advantage of all of them. Here’s how you should use them.
Use a Mix of Industry specific & general hashtags
The hashtags we gave you above are general hairdressing hashtags. You want to use these so you come up on search as mentioned above, and so you can get more likes. More likes and comments can get you on the ‘Top Posts” for that hashtag and can get you more exposure…BUUUUTTTT….you need to laser target. You don’t just want people who are looking for hair, but to keep on that Ombre idea, you want people looking for that particular service you do. In this case, search #ombre on hashtags. Once you do, there will be a bunch of suggestions on top, add these to your hashtags for that post. On mobile search, we got #ombrehair #brushlight & #newcolor
Geo-targeted hashtags If you’re a salon in Long Island, chances are you won’t be flying to Los Angeles to cut someone’s hair. Make sure that you use geo targeted hashtags so that you come up on location search. In this case the salon used #nyhairstylist #nyhairdresser #longisland #commack #northport #huntington. Incredibly smart technique. Trending Hashtags If it’s trending in the real world, people will be looking for it on Instagram. Say Beyonce is trending for a new haircut that everyone is talking about, craft a post to fit this trend and hashtag it #Beyonce. This will also work for red carpet events, etc.
Instagram is a great place to strengthen your brand. Begin to use branded hashtags and educate your clients on this. Look at the example above. The salon uses #Harroin_meghan (stylist & brand), #HarroinNYC (brand & location), and #TeamHairroin. This is a great chance to get your customers to become advocates. Tell them your hashtag and tell them to share their latest do to Instagram with your hashtag for a discount on their next visit.
Brand recognition helps. Just like you would tell your customers what type of shampoo you use, you can share this on Instagram to build trust and build off that company’s following. If you use Kerastase, then use the #kerastase hashtag on images of dos that were assisted by their products. Make sure to tag them as well. They will get a notification and perhaps like, comment on, or share your post on their profile.
How to Grow And Manage your Instagram Account
