Twitter’s Notification Feature for REAL-TIME Interactions
This has been a busy week in social media. Facebook announced larger ads and Twitter made two big announcements which seem geared at making Twitter a little more accessible and familiar to new users of the older demographic.
First, they announced their new and
improved Facebook-like layout. It features a HUGE header image, much larger than Facebook’s. It also puts tweets into their own containers, which increase in size as the tweet’s influence increases.
Now they have announced Twitter’s Notification Feature which allows for real-time interactions. Sounds a lot like Instant messenger to us.
From now on, if you are logged into twitter, you will be notified if:
1. Someone replies to a tweet
2. Favorites your tweet
3. Re-tweets you
Twitter is also adding an option to receive notifications for DM’s (direct messages) and new followers. They’ve also made it possible for you to interact from the notification. Twitter announced that the feature will roll out to users over the next few weeks.
This will be a great tool for social marketers, small and local businesses, and reputation managers.
How to make sure your notifications are working
- Go to settings
- Choose the type of notifications you want (they work on email & mobile)
