Social media is a complicated thing. It can get even more complicated when you throw people into the mix; interns, employees, outsourcers, and even clients. • LinkedIn business pages
  • Twitter accounts

Set Different Permissions for Different Users

There are various types of users you can set up on Socialdraft. Let’s break that down:

Admins: This is the person that set up the account, he/she has access to all features, settings, and billing information.

  • Add & delete social media profiles
  • Assign tasks to others
  • Download content calendars as PDF
  • Edit billing options
  • Create & delete sub-users
  • Create campaigns & categories
  • Add/delete or edit the Bit.ly URL Shortener
  • Populate calendars
  • Change timezones
  • Upload bulk content via CSV

Managers: Managers can create, schedule, and reschedule content for the social networks the account admin assigns to them. They can also (if given access by account owners):

  • View, generate and download reports.
  • Work on Instagram (search, like, follow, unfollow)
  • Use the all-in-one inbox (view, like, retweet, and comment)
  • Approve sub-user posts
  • Filter on the content & task calendars
  • Bulk upload via CSVs

Sub-Users: Admins can decide what social networks and features this type of user has access to (all-in-one inbox, and the Instagram engagement tools). Sub-users can also be set up so that their posts require approval before they publish. This is a great feature for interns, outsourcers, and new team members. Subusers on Socialdraft can:

  • Schedule social media content
  • Engage on the All-in-One Inbox
  • Use the Instagram engagement tools

Guests: The guest role is for those of you who have clients that want a little more input. You can add a guest user to have access to just certain content calendars. Guests won’t be able to schedule, edit or publish content, but they are able to leave comments and feedback on said posts.

Socialdraft is a social media scheduling tool for teams that handle lots of clients and lots of social media accounts. As such, our users needed ways to easily see what is going on only for particular clients. That is where Socialdraft campaigns come in.

What Are Socialdraft Campaigns

Socialdraft Campaigns (formerly called projects) allow you to group any social networks of your choice together. This allows you to do a few things:

Calendar: Drill down by campaign to see all the posts scheduled for those social networks

Scheduling: Schedule the same post to all social network grouped in that campaign

PDF Calendar: Allows you to download a content calendar for all the social networks that are grouped together in that campaign

Ideas on Using Socialdraft Campaigns

Multi Property Clients

If you have local clients with multiple locations such as a dentist or a restaurant you can use this feature in multiple ways. Let’s call this “client” Joe’s restaurant and go through a few scenarios:

“Joe’s Restaurant Location 1 All”: You can create a campaign where you put all of Joe’s restaurant’s social networks: their Facebook page, Twitter account, and Instagram account.

  • Whenever you want to see what is scheduled for all networks, simply drill down by this campaign.
  • Whenever you want to schedule a post about their weekly happy hour to all their social networks, simply schedule it to that campaign.
  • When you want to download their calendar to send to them for approval, drill down by the campaign,  download, and send it out as PDF.

Joe’s Restaurant All Locations Twitter: If Joe’s restaurant has 3 locations in the same state, and they are all running the same promotion, you can group all of Joe’s restaurant location’s Twitter accounts into one Campaign. You can do all of the above, but this time it will only apply to their Twitter accounts.

Brands

Say you are a brand or non-local business. Campaigns are a great way to share reviews and news to multiple accounts. Here are a few examples:

Brand/Business & Principals:  Create a campaign for the brand or business PLUS the principals (owners, founders, etc). When a new review comes in, simply share it to all their social networks using Campaigns.

One of the most requested features by our agency users was to have guests invited to the dashboard. They told us that some of their clients were asking for a way to review posts and leave notes before they posted. Socialdraft already offers downloadable calendars (you can send them as PDF to clients), but we thought this would be a great idea for those of you who have clients who are more hands-on. Since you asked, we now deliver: Socialdraft Guests!

Socialdraft Guests

What are Socialdraft Guests?

Socialdraft guests are people you can invite to have access to the Socialdraft dashboard, but with restrictions.

What Can Socialdraft Guests Do?

Socialdraft guests can view scheduled content and leave notes about posts that need approval on the dash. Say you are an agency, but you have a client that requires a bit more access. you will be able to invite them as guests, give them access to view a one or multiple calendars and make internal comments on posts that have been set up to require approval. The approval still must be done by an account admin. Guest can also filter to see posts between accounts they have access to.

What Can’t Socialdraft Guests Do?

Guests can’t see, feeds, or settings. They can’t re-schedule or move posts, they can’t delete posts or duplicate them.

How are Socialdraft Guests Different than Team Members

Team members get a ton more access than guests. A team member could be a member of your organization, an intern, or a freelancer. Team members can be given permission to create content and the all-in-one inbox.

Socialdraft Managers

Socialdraft managers have a more power than regular sub-users or guests, but less power than account owners.

What Can Socialdraft Managers Do?

Socialdraft managers can create, schedule, and reschedule content for the social networks the account admin assigns to them. Along with these functions, Managers are also able to (with account owner’s permission):

  1. Pull reports (view, generate, download)
  2. Work on Instagram (schedule, search, repost)
  3. Work on the all-in-one inbox (view, like, retweet, and comment)
  4. Approve sub user posts
  5. Filter on the content & task calendars
  6. Bulk upload via CSVs

All posts that are created by the manager are considered approved.

What Can’t Socialdraft Managers Do?

There are a few things that a manager can’t do, including:

  • Add or remove social media profiles
  • Assign tasks to others
  • Download content calendars
  • Create or update billing options
  • Delete users
  • Create campaigns or categories
  • Add/delete or edit URL Shortener
  • Populate calendars
  • Change timezone on admin

Some of our best features and ideas come from our users. Socialdraft’s New Sleeker Dashboard came to us from Jacqueline McAbee’s suggestions (thanks Jacqueline). She mentioned that our dashboard could be sleeker and much more convenient to use if when you logged on it took you directly to the dash. We looked at usage and mostly everyone was going directly to the calendar. Now, when you log onto Socialdraft, the dashboard will default to the calendar so that you can get to scheduling posts immediately.

We’ve also consolidated the feeds into the Inbox so you can take care of engagement and communication from one place.

Reports are still easily accessible from the toolbar as are your settings.

As you probably know by now, Socialdraft works on a three week release cycle. Whenever a user sends us a request for a new feature, these get put into the development schedule under one of these three week cycles. Today, we’ve released a few requests from some of you. If you have a request for our team, simply click on the support area on the bottom right hand corner of our site, and let one of our reps know so they can submit it for consideration. Best of all, there is no increase in pricing with any of these features, so you can enjoy them at all membership levels.

*****One thing for those of you using Socialdraft. When you first log on, clear your cache. This will ascertain that everything works properly. Check out the video below to see the updates to the Socialdraft Calendar in action.

This is a list of the new updates to the Socialdraft Calendar:

Updates to the Socialdraft Calendar

Page and fan tagging on Facebook

A social media scheduler that lets you tag pages

This feature was requested by Jacqueline. She wanted to be able to tag all the business pages across her organization. It works pretty simply. This works just as it does on Facebook. Simply type the @ symbol followed by the page name. Socialdraft will do the work and find the page for you. You will know the page is successfully tagged when it changes color(the page name is highlighted) as seen in the example above. We figured while we were at it, we also work on tagging fans, so that feature has also been pushed out during this release.

Bigger previews

The Socialdraft social media scheduler has large previews that make it easier to work on and edit posts

Bigger is better, especially when you are checking out your social media posts and when you need to edit them. That’s why previews are now big, huge, ginormous. Thanks for the suggestion Carrie!

Gifs for Facebook

You can schedule Facebook gifs using Socialdraft

How awesome is that! You can schedule gifs to both Twitter and Facebook on the Socialdraft dashboard. And by Facebook we mean you can schedule gifs to your personal account, your Facebook business pages, and groups you manage. A great way to increase your engagement. This one was not a suggestion, but gosh darn it, we love gifs, so we did this one for ourselves.

How to Schedule a gif To Twitter: Simply upload your GIF as you would a regular image.

How to Schedule a gif to Facebook: Facebook does not allow direct uploading, so you need to use a link.

1. Enter in the gif link in the write up area http://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/facebookgif.gif (1MB)

2. Let the link preview load

3. Remove the link from the message

Add Images to Facebook Albums

Choose albums on Facebook for your scheduled posts

The final update we have added is that you can now associate your Facebook image posts with a particular album. How neat is that.
