Instagram New Filters and Emoji Hashtags

We love Instagram and believe business owners who haven’t yet created an Instagram account should take the plunge and establish a business profile on Instagram so that their brand is visible to another new market. Instagram is one of the fastest growing social media platforms, with 15 times more user engagement than Facebook, and 40 times more engagement than Twitter.

Just a short side note — with Socialdraft, you can find influencers by username, hashtag, AND regular search terms – yielding far better results than Instagram itself. You can then follow those influencers, and like their content directly from the app. Socialdraft also allows you to re-share Instagram content to other social networks including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn with a few clicks.

INSTAGRAM EMOJI HASHTAGS

You can now hashtag with emojis on Instagram

Insagram has also included an update that allows you to use emoji, the ideograms or smileys used in Japanese electronic messages and Web pages, in your hashtags. With emoji hashtags, you can discover even more by adding them to your own photos and videos, searching them on the Explore page and tapping on them when you see them in captions.

Instagram notes that “over the past few years, emoji have become part of a universal visual language. And just as we share photos and videos, we use emoji to communicate emotions and feelings in ways that anyone can understand, regardless of language or background.”

THE NEW INSTAGRAM FILTERS

New Instagram Filters: Juno Lark Reyes

Instagram has several great tools that enhance the use of this already great photo platform, and has recently introduced three new filters inspired by outdoor adventures — Lark, Reyes and Juno are a family of modern, subtle filters that brighten and enhance photos in refined ways.

Lark: Lark desaturates reds while punching up blues and greens to bring your landscapes to life.

Reyes: Reyes brings a dusty, vintage look to your moments.

Juno: Juno tints cool tones green while making warm tones pop and whites glow for vibrant photos of people.

Instagram for iOS version 6.11.0 is available in Apple’s App Store, and these updates are available in the latest version of Instagram for Android, 6.20.0, in Google Play.

More Instagram Filters

Instagram has lots more filters. You’ll see the filters at the front of your filter tray: Slumber, Crema, Ludwig, Aden and Perpetua. They soften and subtly shift colors to achieve the look and feel you want for your each photo.

To make it easier to choose between filters, Instagram updated how they’re displayed. When you go to apply a filter to your photo, each filter icon on the bottom now displays a blurred preview of your photo with its effect applied. This lets you see at a glance how your photo will appear with each filter applied.

In an effort to keep things simple, Instagram also added a new “Manage” button at the end of your filter tray. Tap it to re-arrange the order of your filters and hide the ones you rarely use. To learn more about the filters and how to rearrange your filter tray, visit the Instagram Help Center.
